2025 League rules

  1. Each Team must have a minimum eight players to play and three must be female or the game is forfeited. Three females must play I the infield excluding a female pitcher for all games.
  1. Each team will field a maximum of twelve players, 6 males and 6 females.  In case where one team has extra players, and the other team is short players in the interest of fair play team will lend the extra player to the team that is short with the agreement of both captains and the player.
  1. Foul on third strike is not an automatic out.
  1. A commitment line between third base and home plate is in effect. If the base runner touches or crosses this line, there is no return except on a caught fly ball. The runner must proceed to home plate or he/she is called out.
  1. A safety line at 35’ is used at home plate.
  1. No defensive player apart from the pitcher and catcher can encroach past the base line until the ball is hit. Fielders or rovers cannot encroach beyond the Cones until the ball is hit.
  2. To complete an inning the following must occur: Three outs or 5 runs scored, whichever comes first, except in the seventh inning where runs are unlimited and the game ends if the team batting second has scored more runs in six innings or before the third out in last half of the seventh inning than the other team has scored in seven innings. An inning announced by the umpire as the last inning will be considered an open inning ended by three outs.
  3.  Team captains are responsible for getting their own spares from list provided. Spares must bat         last in the batting order. Regular league players will be used as a spare in the final playoff game at the direction of the opposing captain. A spare MUST NOT have a higher rating than the missing player unless both captains agree. 
  1. Slo-pitch means 6-to-12-foot arc-pitches. Too low or too high are illegal therefore considered a ball unless the batter swings at the pitch and in which case the pitch counts.           

       10.   No leadoffs-automatic out and pitch does not count.

  1. Pinch runners are allowed only at the request of the runner. A pinch runner can only pinch run twice in the same game. Pinch runner must be the same gender the player they are replacing.
  1.   One Rainout Date has been designated for Rainout games. If more than 1 game was rained out we will play the first rainout game .If the rainout game does not change the standings in any way, we will proceed to Play Offs. During the playoffs, a game must be completed to be official. A game stopped by the umpire will be considered complete if five innings (four- and one-half innings if the second batting team is leading) have been completed. Only an umpire or conveyor can cancel a scheduled game.
  1. Players arriving late must be placed at the bottom of the batting order but may play defence at any time. If a team requested a spare, the spare must play even in the event of a full team.
  1. Games will start at 6:40 pm and end at 8:27 latest no matter what. If this occurs mid-inning, the final full inning played is the result. Exception – for all play off games both teams will play the full seven innings.
  1. Batting order must alternate gender.
  1. 10-minute grace period from scheduled start time. Otherwise, the game will be forfeited, or the team must play with the minimum eight players.
  1.  The infield fly rule does apply. The call is at the discretion of the umpire.
  1. If any batter is walked on four pitches, they will advance to second base. The next player will bat as usual.
  1. Safety Bag: On the batter’s first attempt at first base and a play is made at first, he must use the orange portion of the double base. Once the batter has safely reached first base, he must now use the white portion of the bag. The defensive player must always use the white portion.
  1. There will be no sliding into the bases by the runner. If the runner slides, he/she is automatically out.
  1. If a player misses 3 consecutive games and has not contact with the league, he/she will be considered a drop out player and will be replaced. No refund will be given.
  1. A batted ball that hits home plate is considered a dead ball and strike is counted.
  1. The umpire’s decision is final after consulting with the captains if required.
  1. End of season tie in game points will be decided from A) wins and losses against each other. B) run differential.
  1. The shortstop is not allowed to shift over past the second and first base.
  1. Pitchers are allowed to back up the catcher but in no case allowed to cut in front of the catcher at home plate to intercept the ball and take the play away from the catcher.
  1. Outfielders cannot throw a batter out at first base. (as per SPOA rules)
  1. If a pinch runner is on base when called up to bat – he/she is an automatic out as a batter.
  1. A minimum of four females are required for the playoff games.
  1. A foul ball caught by the catcher is an automatic out, regardless of the height.
  1. Games will be seven innings.
  1. Smoking and drinking are prohibited within the sports activity area as per city bylaws.
